The stunning Desert Rose, or Adenium obesum is a beautifully hardy, unusual succulent shrub with white funnel flowers with pink borders, bearing a swollen base to store water. Typically growing 400mm - 1 m high, however this semi-succulent shrub can also be a small tree growing up to 2.5 m when allowed the time, or can be kept to your desired size through pruning. This garden ornamental has a long flowering season late spring throughout summer, and is attractive to bees and butterflies.
Perfect as an indoor plant and for container planting (particularly if you're like me and forget to water your indoor plants), she's also a very popular bonsai specimen. Consider using this colourful, dramatic specimen in succulent gardens to beautiful effect. This very forgiving girl is perfect for you if you like big rewards with low care!
Hardy to drought, sensitive to frost. Prefers free draining soil. Prefers full sun for full result; if planting indoors keep in a sunny, warm position.
*Please note, although beautiful, the Desert Rose is toxic if ingested, so keep this pretty out of reach of children and pets.
