Well drained drier position protected from frost & strong wind.  Full sun.  Excellent tub specimen if regularly pruned.  Ideal trellis or fence plant with long thorns deterring people or pets.  Great as a ground cover - some pruning will be required to ensure a compact growth habit but the effort is rewarded with a mass of spring
