Common Name: Gymea Lily
Availabilty: In Stock
The Doryanthes excelsa, or the Gymea Lily as it is more commonly known, is a large evergreen that grows 1 - 2 metres tall. Large clusters of pink flowers bloom on each stem in spring/summer, and it is ideal for border planting, feature or specimen planting, scrub scapes or large gardens.
Low maintenance, this hardy plant requires very little effort once established, but continues offering stunning results to great effect. A large specimen ideal for scrub gardens or feature planting.
This is a type of Australian "Bush Tucker". The Gymea Lily is a multi-purpose plant; the sweet nectar produced by the flowers can be eaten, the flower spikes can be roasted and eaten, and the roots can be roasted and made into a unique type of cake!
Hardy; frost & wind tolerant. Prefers most deep soils. Full sun. Attractive to birds and insects.
