The gorgeous Fatsia japonica has incredibly unique and luscious foliage. This exotic evergreen is famous for her striking glossy leaves in the shape of stars (that can grow up to a foot long!). Highly unique tiny white flowers in clusters on long bendy stems appear during the autumn months, with black berry clusters following through the winter. Want to take her on a date? So do the birds & bees, they LOVE the berries and will be sure to frequent this beauty.
Growing between 1.5 - 4 metres depending on habitat, Japanese Aralia is ideal for hedging or screening, natural borders, tropical lanscaping, tub planting and as a feature. Extra wow factor? This beautiful gal can grow happily indoors to spectacular result too.Happy in most soil bases so long as they are well drained, she's fabulously low maintenance and relatively tough once established. We recommend the occasional prune during the spring to keep her growth habit bushy and compact.
Hardy to frost once mature. Sensitive to strong winds. Happy in humidity. Well drained soils, not a picky grower. Prefers full to part shade for best result, can adapt to sun. Attractive to birds and insects.
