Common Name: Needle Tree, Needle Bush, Christmas Hakea
Availabilty: Out of Stock ENQUIRE NOW
The Needle Tree is native to Western Australia and is a great addition to any native-style or dry garden. This versatile shrub or tree has long blue-green cylindrical leaves that imitate the pointed look of a needle, hence the name! (Psst... these prickly leaves can bite when mature, so watch your fingers!)
Throughout spring the Hakea Preissii produces unique creamy yellow spider flowers that grow directly on the stem, combining with the foliage to a truly striking affect. Swollen woody fruits compliment this feature while the needles are gorgeous for contrast in landscaping.
Growing to a height of 2-4 m it's ideal for large screens or hedges; the needles a brilliant defensive measure for keeping pests out of the garden. These hardy native plants are drought tolerant and are best situated in full sun. They can sustain in a wide variety of well-drained soils including alkaline, sandy and clay soils.
Drought tolerant. Most well-drained soils. Full sun. Australian native plant.
