Common Name: Dwarf Japanese Garden Juniper, Bonin Island Juniper, Dwarf Japanese Juniper
Availabilty: In Stock
The Dwarf Japanese Juniper is a hugely popular, compact evergreen ground cover. This low maintenance little guy is a conifer with aromatic, prickly blue-green needled foliage and berry-like cones. Tthe dainty appearance is perfect for garden contrast with the long, trailing branches going every direction forming a decadent (albeit uncomfortable with the prickles!) mat-like cover.
A slow grower, this hardy, dwarf ground-cover grows up to 30 cm tall and eventually spreads 1.5 - 1.8 metres wide, rendering him ideal for mass planting (a truly gorgeous spectacle!), keep clipped for borders, and is stunning if allowed to cascade over embankments in rock gardens. Hardy to most elements and thriving in neglect, you can clip the foliage to keep compact, or allow to roam slowly.
Hardy to frost, salt & wind. Mildly tolerant to drought. Most free draining soils (adapts well to sandy bases). Full sun or part shade.
