Common Name: Mint, Peppermint, Peppermint Leaves

Gorgeous Mint is a hugely popular garden herb addition that is widely versatile. This pretty little evergreen is a hybrid mint, crossed between watermint and spearmint. Gorgeous textured foliage in bright green tones and tooth shaped edges releases the distinct 'peppermint' fragrance year round; while tiny purple, pink and lilac flowers appear in the warmer months and are highly attractive to bees and local insect-life.

Depending on location, mint can grow anywhere between 100 - 1200 mm tall. Low maintenance, this hardy little herb will grow just about anywhere and is beautiful for kitchen gardens, container planting, indoor gardening, cooking, medicinal benefits or planting in protected positions outdoors. It can also be an effective and fast spreading ground-cover, however many home gardeners prefer to keep it in containers to prevent it creeping into undesired areas. We recommend frequent harvesting of the leaves to keep mint looking her best! Planted around the patio it has been found to be a natural pesticide, even repelling mosquitos.

Especially effective in flavouring food, the refreshing taste is popular for tea, essential oils, ice cream, gum, confectionery and personal care products, like toothpaste. Peppermint also has extensive medicinal properties, with historical use ranging back 10,000 years. It is commonly utilised to soothe or treat symptoms like nausea, abdominal pain, indigestion, vomiting, IBS and bloating. The refreshing aroma is beautiful when used in meditation or aroma therapy, and is effective for enhancing memory and alertness.

Hardy to most environments. Most soils, although prefers moist, but well drained site. Prefers part shade, protected position. Attractive to bees.
