Big, bold and beautiful, the King Philodendron is a truly stunning tropical evergreen specimen. This gorgeously unique philodendron variety has huge, glossy green foliage similar to Monstera deliciosa that grow up to 1.5 metres slightly drooping as the leaves mature to gorgeous effect. Unlike other varieties, in maturity it develops a woody stem with striking 'eye drop' scars. Typically kept inside as a stunning indoor plant, but happy outside in a shaded spot in mild climates; fast growing to 3 - 4.5 metres tall. If keeping indoors, he prefers bright, indirect light.

The King is truly beautiful outdoors also, as an accent in mixed beds, tropical landscapes, container planting, in atriums, or as a feature specimen. He loves high humidity, and space to grow, but can be kept more compact by limiting pot size. Don't be fooled, this isn't a high maintenance plant, simply a tropical one, who is tough and will endure in most circumstances so long as he's given shade.The spreading growth habit can even climb larger trees outdoors.

This variety can be poisonous if ingested.

Sensitive to salt & drought. Prefers moist well drained soils. Prefers part to full shade outdoors; bright, indirect light indoors.
