Common Name: Lady Slipper Vine, Mysore Trumpet Vine, Indian Clock Vine, Brick & Butter Vine, Dolls' Shoes, Tropical Wisteria

The Lady Slipper Vine is a truly unique and exceptionally gorgeous evergreen climbing vine. This exotic girl has large 'slipper' shaped curved flowers that are vibrant reds, burgundy's or oranges and with vivid yellow throats. The flowers cluster down hanging vines like pendants, with beautiful, long and narrow green leafed foliage. The blooms are generous in producing a sweet nectar, so are highly attractive to local bird and insect life.

With accolades like the 'Prettiest Flowering Vine in the World' awarded by the book 'Vines of the World', it's no wonder this tropical beauty blooms almost year round in temperate climates, from spring to autumn. This is certainly one of the most striking flowering vines out there, and highly rewarding. For best effect, try growing your Lady Slipper Vine over awnings or archways so the flowers can cascade down and create a truly jaw-dropping spectacle, or up a trellis and over a fence to add the wow factor.

This vigorous grower grows up to 6 - 10 metres, and is quite quick to establish and can be trained to great success; give her structural support for best result. As new buds are formed in the winter, we recommend any shaping or pruning be completed in autumn. Though she's a show off, she's easy care; and whilst she prefers a more tropical location, this forgiving girl can adapt over time.

Lightly frost tolerant. Well Drained soils. Prefers morning sun or light shade. Attractive to birds and insects.
