Common Name: Blue Flax Lily, Tasman Flax lily, Blue Berry Flax Lily
Availabilty: In Stock
Dianella tasmanica, or the Tasman Flax or Blue Flax Lily as it can be more commonly known, is an attractive evergreen border plant that has clusters of star-shaped bright blue flowers atop long stems that bloom in spring and summer, followed by decorative glossy blue berries.
This gorgeous Aussie native naturally occurs in shaded Tasmainian, Victorian and east coastal NSW forest, it has an excellent tolerance for shade, moisture and cooler temps that other Dianella varieties dislike; ideal for those tricky shaded spots in the garden. Growing to approximately 60 cm - 1 m tall and wide, this strappy beauty is ideal for border planting, mass planting, those hard-to-grow areas or as a striking colour contrast. This very hardy little plant requires very little maintenance and is perfect for layering out large areas of the garden to beautiful effect. Please note, the berries are toxic if ingested.
Hardy to frost & wind. Most soils, mulch in establishment. Part shade to full shade. Attractive to bird and insect life.
